Goodbye, Friends 3/24/11 It is with gratitude and love that we announce the end of The Sweater Friends. While both Allyson and I have loved our time as your sweater toting songwriters, most good things really do need to come to an end in order to stay good. The reason came down to a quote one of my professors has shared countless times over the past few years, "the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing". We're breaking up the band to keep the music and the friendship the bright spots of our sweater-era and not just part of an explosive aftermath. The stress, the scene and the salesmanship seem poised to take over something dear to both of us as sweater friends. Allyson has written a wonderful "greatest hits" farewell on our blog. I invite everyone to read it. There are many, many people who have made this band possible. Those that stick out in my mind are: Ben Woolley, Mark Hammond, Jake Tapana, Bryce and Lina Buchanan, Braden Hutchinson, Lauren Mangum, the Local Landing boys, Portia Early and of course our spouses and families. I know there are more. Our sincerest "thank you" to everyone that has played a part in The Sweater Friends. You have been the best part of being a sweater friend. Hope you enjoy it. Jake Studio Update: Oddities 2/26/11 I had a chance last night to hear some of the tracks we have been working on for The Ghost and the Guest and came away feeling very excited. A last minute edition to the album called "The Same", which I wrote on the mandolin, is turning out awesome. I made a rough draft of the song a few weeks ago on my iPad and thought I would share it with you. Along with rough draft of "The Same", I have posted some other tracks that have been hanging out on my hard drive under an album called Oddities. I plan to add more "live recordings, rough drafts, covers (that we can distribute) and other Sweater Friends stuff for your listening and downloading pleasure".
